How does credit metering actually work out in practice?

Vizard’s unit is a minute of video processed: one credit, one minute. That is easy to reason about, and it means the cost of a workflow scales directly with how much raw footage you push through it — which is the right model for repurposing long recordings.

It also means the cost is driven by your source length, not your output. Uploading a 60-minute podcast to extract three clips consumes the 60 minutes, not the three.

VibeRoll has no unit. It runs on your hardware, so processing a long take costs you time and nothing else. For a creator whose sources are short and deliberate, metering is overhead they never benefit from.

If you record long and post short — interviews, streams, podcast episodes — Vizard is doing work VibeRoll simply does not do, and the credit model matches that usage honestly.

If you record short and post short — a two to four minute piece straight to camera, a few times a week — Vizard’s strengths mostly go unused, and its metering charges you for source minutes you were never asking it to search through.

Does either work without an internet connection?

What are the real limits of a one-time desktop tool?

Rendering takes your machine’s time rather than a server farm’s, so a long take on an older laptop is slower than the same job in the cloud, and your computer is busy while it happens. A cloud queue absorbs that for you.

A one-time purchase also buys a version, not a subscription to the future. VibeRoll ships updates, but the promise attached to $29 is that what you bought keeps working — not that every future capability arrives free forever. Anyone selling a perpetual licence who implies otherwise is overpromising.
